Prescription Information

Prescriptions

Your Chemist Shop endeavors to provide our customers with complete professional experience.

When you join Your Chemist Shop, you are required to fill out the application form which will ask you some questions regarding your medical details.

This information is compulsory so we can fill any prescription orders you give us. It will also insure that any drug interactions or contraindications are picked up.

Precsription Pricing

The current Australian Health scheme has different pricing for different individuals depending on their entitlements.

You will find that Prescription items on our websites will have FOUR DIFFERENT pricing.

You should know which one is applicable to your circumstances and if in any doubt please do not hesitate to contact us.

1. NHS

  • The NHS prices are set by the government and only apply if a VALID MEDICARE CARD number is provided.
  • These prices CAN NOT be discounted by law.
  • They can be added towards your SAFETY NET total.
  • Safety Net form stickers will be provided with every NHS prescription dispensed. You can also request a print out of your safety net record to be faxed/posted to you at any time.

A COPY OF A VALID MEDICARE CARD SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH THE PRESCRIPTIONS.

2. Private Prescriptions

  • Not ALL prescriptions are subsidized by the government under the NHS scheme, leaving the patient to pay the full price for them.
  • This price will also apply for individuals that do not have a valid MEDICARE CARD.
  • Private health insurance receipts will be provided when a PRIVATE medication is dispensed.

3. Concession Cards

  • These include Centrelink health care cards, pensioner cards, veteran affairs cards and CN cards.
  • The current government set concession price is $4.60. This price usually changes in January every year.
  • Some brands will incur an additional surcharge.
  • You can avoid paying this surcharge by opting for a less expensive brand (Generic brand) where available.

A photocopy of a valid concession card must be provided with the prescription to obtain the concession price.

4. Sn Cards

  • Patient who reach their safety net threshold will have a pink safety net card.
  • Safety net card holders will normally pay ZERO dollars for their NHS prescription medications.
  • Some brands will incur an additional surcharge.
  • You can avoid paying this surcharge by opting for a less expensive brand (Generic brand) where available.
  • A photocopy of a valid safety net card must be provided with the prescription to obtain the concession price.

Repeat Prescriptions

To help minimize the time it takes for our patients to receive their mediations we strongly recommend that you file your repeat prescriptions at YOUR CHEMIST SHOP for redispensing at a later stage.

That way when you place your order online, we are able to retrieve your repeat prescription from our files and dispatch to you immediately.

Generic Brands

As previously mentioned these are the brands that do not incur a surcharge.

They are competitively priced by the companies that make them allowing them to be passed on to you at no extra surcharge.

They are by no way inferior to the original brands.

We are only able to offer you the generic brand if your doctor did not tick the "BRAND SUBSTITUTION NOT PERMITTED " box on your prescription.
